On the cover there is a monogram of Preobrazhensky Regiment under an Imperial crown, inside there is an engraved inscription stating: "To Captain Duke N.N.of Leichtenberg from his companions Preobrazhentsy" with 10 names. Nikolay Nikolaevich Duke of Leichtenberg (1868-1928), Duke, Fluegaladjutant, Colonel of Preobrazhensky Regiment of the Lifeguard. House of Duke of Leichtenberg was founded by Eugene Beauharnais, son’s of Josephine and step-son of Emperor Napoleon I. E.Beauharnais (1781-1824) married in 1806 to the daughter of Maximilian-Joseph, King of Bavaria, after Napoleon’s defeat he gave up for 5 millions Francs landgraviate of Leichtenberg to his son-in-law, and E. Beauharnais became Duke of Leichtenberg. His son Maximilian married in 1843 Maria Nikolaevna, Nicholas I’s daughter and Dukes of Leichtenberg became members of Russian Imperial family and were given the title of Princes Romanovsky. Karl Iohannovich Bock (born in1851) since 1874 owner of a jewellery atelier with 20-25 craftsmen and 3-5pupils. Since 1911 a court supplier. Participated in World Exhibitions (Paris, 1900) and All-Russian Exhibitions (Nizhny Novgorod, 1896). Owner of "Arnd" Trade House. He owned also shops in Bolshaya Morskaya in Petersburg where best jewellery shops were located and in Kuznetsky most, the main "brilliant" street in Moscow. |
