With the development of natural sciences in the second half of the 19th century a strange charming world of insects attracted the jewellers. Brooches, lockets, earrings in the form of butterflies, dragonflies, bugs sketches for which were frequently made by entomologists and botanists were widespread. Jewellers had large herbaria and collections of sketches drawn from life.
